Yahoo purchases Tumblr, Promises to Keep it Independent

It’s official! Yahoo announced the purchase of Tumblr for $1.1B, after the deal surfaced last week. David Karp, the creator of Tumblr, will remain the CEO. Karp promises users that ”We’re not turning purple. Our headquarters isn’t moving. Our team isn’t changing. Our roadmap isn’t changing. And our mission – to empower creators to make their best work and get it in front of the audience they deserve – certainly isn’t changing.”

Club Monaco Releases Fall Lookbook Via Tumblr

Club Monoco has released their Fall 2013 lookbook on Tumblr for the masses to see. The brand used Tumblr cultural influencers, which reflected the Club Monaco Culture Club Pillar of Fashion, Photography, Food, Music, Art, and Travel. Club Monoco uses colors inspired by photographer Cindy Sherman, in a style of “1960s mixed with present day aesthetics”. The women’s line juxtaposed awkward yet pretty, strong yet soft, playful yet quirky. The men’s line brings a traditional design with high-tech functionality. The Lookbook was shot by New York photographer, Jason Chung.

Millennials Leaving Facebook for Tumblr

There has been a major shift on Facebook in the past couple of years. What started out as a site for college students to connect with each other has turned into a hub for brands, advertisers, and baby boomers.

The Millennials, which are categorized as those born between 1981 and 2000, have been making the move from Facebook to other platforms. Among these platforms includes Tumblr, which has been named the number one social media site for teens, outpacing Facebook 61 to 55 percent. Tumblr started as a blogging platform but has won teens over with their quick photo and quote reblog options. The site allows users to get creative and have a voice.

When you purchase a Danavore Surprise, Dana (that’s me) picks out 3 stick figure comic prints for you. So that I can choose prints that you’ll really like, you need to send along 3 - 5 words that describe you (or the person you’re buying a Danavore Surprise for). Your surprise will come with a handwritten note from me telling you why I chose what I chose.
